Web site Design Process - something to think about

» I design my web sites using Dreamweaver 8, HTML/CSS, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Flash 8

» What type of business or service do you provide?

» Do you have your own Logo, Slogan or brochures?

» Do you have a color scheme in mind? Are you drawn towards vivid, neon colors or hues a little more subtle?

» What do you prefer for navigation tools - Buttons or Text links?

» How many content pages do you think are required for your new Web site?

» Do you have any favorite web sites that you wish to link to from your Web site?

» Do you have images that you wish to use or will they need to be acquired?

» Do you have a budjet that we have to stay within?

» What is your time frame for having the site complete and online?

» Do you need to purchase a Domain name and Host company?

» How often do you think you will need to update the content on your web site?

These points will give you something to think about before calling.

Here’s what you can expect during the design process:

Work Agreement - After your acceptance of my design estimate, I will send (by e-mail) a Client Agreement/Contract for you to sign and send back to me.

Deposit - A $200.00 deposit is requested along with the signed agreement before any work begins. This shows me that the client is serious about their website and about working with me.

Website Content - I will need you to send me the content to be used on your site during the early stages of creation. This includes all text and images. Textual content seems to be an issue with many clients, many expecting me to write it for them. I have written content in the past for certain clients in order to get it done but it should be the responsibility of the client as they know their business the best. I certainly will help and make suggestions, correct grammar and spelling mistakes.

Time Frame - I work quickly and steadily to complete your new web site without delay but more often than not the delay is due to the client themselves. I need correspondence and your content early on in the design stages.

Design review - I will provide you with a screen shot of your custom design concept initially for your review and approval. Soon after I will have your new website online on my own webspace for you to view live during development stages.

Interim Payment - I may request a second installment if I feel the process is taking too long due to lack of client response and/or delay getting content/information to me.

Domain name / Hosting - In the meantime, at some point you will need to choose your Domain name, register it and set up your hosting service. I will need account information such as your username and password provided by the web host in order to upload your website files.

Balance Due - After the web site is complete, the remaining balance will be due prior to upload at your own web address.

Please note that I am not set up for any credit cards but will happily accept your personalized cheques, money order cheques, Paypal and cash. E-mail money transfers work slick! Love them...
